It’s that time of the year again! Hosted by the Stratford Business Association, the annual Stratford Christmas Parade kicked off at 6:30 PM on Friday 1st December after another stunning day in Stratford.
Broadway was closed off and was swarmed with a crowd of over a thousand bystanders to enjoy the entertainment and floats, this year we also enjoyed Fergie the Bull showing off the elusive Ranfurly Shield now that its safe back at Rugby Park.
There was a record number of entries submitting their take on this year’s theme “Lights, Camera, Christmas”. This was an extra special theme to coincide with the TET Kings Theater centenary.
NZ Cadet Forces who entered a fantastic float which boasted two hand crafted fighter planes took out the winning prize for the evening and led the pack on the night.
“Wonderful evening, largest crowd in my lifetime” was a one of many rave reviews on social media.
This was also reiterated by the Chairman of the Stratford Business Association Peter Dalziel. “This year’s event was a credit to the sub-committee and a special thank you to Samara Preston who put in a lot of effort to make this a perfect day out in Stratford. This year we decided to combine the parade with the lighting off the town Christmas tree, stalls and kid’s entertainment. The feedback we have received was that the event was a great kick start to the holiday season”.
“With the recent exposure Taranaki has been receiving over the past year this event was a testimony that Taranaki and Stratford are alive and kicking. Now that the summer season has officially started we look forward to the holiday period to show off our slice of paradise to the many visitors that we welcome” says Jason Kowalewski General Manager of Amity Court Motel.
